Lux Aeterna (Requiem for a dream)
Feb. 25th, 2008 | 11:23 pm
I heard this song at office. One of my colleagues kept playing it on loop and it was so loud I could hear it through his head phones.Listening to it made me instinctively uncomfortable.
Its the kind of song that sinks you into a dark depression with the violins repeatedly sawing through your brains.Making you think till you're mad...
I don't dare listen to this alone ..

Men with pets

I know that this is a well used ploy to get the ladies ,which occasionally bombs (as I witnessed in my last trip to goa ).
But truly there is something very endearing about a man with a well maintained pet .Some of the qualities that come to mind are kindness, affection, thoughtfulness.I usually don't talk to strangers on the road..but if its a person with a pet , I feel totally safe and there is no stopping me.

This is the most romantic song ever :).
I'e heard so many versions of it.
The original (sound track of the movie) is the most beautiful and this one by the Gotan project is by far the sexiest.
Here is another version by Gato Barbieri ,the original composer

Hair!
A couple of days back I had another haircut gone wrong. The kind where the hair on one side of the face is shorter than the other.I just spent an hour in front of the mirror wondering how I was going to get it fixed...Either cut it myself...or go back to that sucky hair dresser (Margarets in Koramangala) , who screwed up the simplest haircut ever, which I paid 200 bucks for..all hair in one straight line ..and draw a line around my neck and say ..follow the dots except cut the hair, not the neck.
Why do people screw up such simple tasks they are supposed to be experts at.I would gladly go to Kalyan's barber, but its guys only.Argh!
Fancy Expatriates!
Didn't like her posts on Bangalore, though she is totally entitled to her opinion. She complains about labour not having shoes and entering her house/road !!@#@.Argh
Dog!
Everytime I feed her milk , she proceeds to dash her head against the saucer moving it all over the room.I can't fathom why she does this ?
Maybe
a) She doesn't like milk and wants to play with the saucer. No, she drinks it which means she likes it.
b) She likes the milk and she wants the milk at lower levels of the saucer to come up?
f) She doesn't like cream and is trying to get the cream to move to the corners of the saucer.
e) She likes drinking the milk of the ground .No, I haven't seen her doing that.
Now theres milk all over my living room and none in her stomach and she's still hungry Argh!
Dog Fleas!
The dog went with us to Goa and was suffering from an attack of fleas , which crossed over to us.She slept almost on every part of furniture .I can't be sure if its ticks or fleas except that I itch a lot.To top it all , the doctor conned me out of 400 bucks for a one inch tube ( all the way from australia) which is supposed to cure the dog of her ticks and she's still itching ..Grrrr!
Now since I so impolitely ranted. Here is a pic of the bevda sleeping in Goa at Baga beach.

A short thank you to everyone for their tips.Ran after a three week break and managed to do 2.1k (from a 1.4) of continous running.I am very pleased (my gym instructor had a look of what a loser..happy with 2k) !
I expect this should continue to 3k atleast.
Stuff that helped were
Breathing from the mouth .At the end of the run I don't feel like an asthmatic .
Running straight. Less aches and pains without the arms flailing all over the place .The stomach pains seemed to have gone , and only threaten to appear.
Steps are short and knees are always bent
Another question , what do people prefer , sprint style running or a steady jog.

Running posture
Aug. 14th, 2007 | 10:20 am
Curiously while I've been exercising for the last four months , my pace of running has not increased.I can only do a standard 8kmph for around 10 -12 minutes.I often get a pain ,just below my left rib and then can't continue anymore.
So I spoke to another gymer ,and I was told that my posture was not correct and the correct posture would be standing ram rod straight, upper body as motionless as possible with arms in some kind of comfortable stationary position maybe bent and resting near ones waist. And the feet must only make contact with the ground right under my body .
Any suggestions from all you expert marathon runners ?

Than Than
Jul. 24th, 2007 | 12:00 pm
After years of pronouncing TinTin as Tin Tin and talking about the same to a colleague from France ,it was quite a duh moment for me when the person said 'Oh you mean Than Than'.And when I look back at the tin tins I read there was nothing perceptibly French about them to me.Were the nationalities of the characters mentioned anywhere ?
Also curious, Did anyone read Herge's lesser known Jo,Zette and Jocko ? Remember having two comics from this series and they were as quaint as tintin.

To all auto rickshaw drivers of Koramangala. I'm going to screw your happiness one day.
[ Update ]
Its not about overcharging .I never get them to go anywhere. If I need to go to anyplace I speak to an average of 15 drivers who refuse pointblank. This over a period of two years for different destinations.
Maybe its just the Koramangala fourth block junction. The next time I've half a mind to ask them where they want to go..rather than tell them where I want to ..and hop on.
Another time Kalyan and I went to a pre paid auto stand , a guy agreed to come with us and then half way decided that some random relative was sick and left us in the lurch at 10 in the night.
Argh and this other chap who agreed to take me to Dairy Circle went stark raving mad with a lot of 'Yake sulu heltha idira'(Apologies if I got the Kanada wrong) when I got off at Christ College.Never mind me telling him that the 'circle' was 50 metres down the road.
So my previous statement...is a promise.

WTF , now lj gives me suggestions on lj entry topics in case I have writers block!!?? and on a day when I don't need it !.
The weekend was just lovely! I did the unusual and woke up before 9 - 6:30 to be precise - and headed to Turahalli hillock after some patient persuasion the night before by my good pal Sangeetha . The plan was to go bouldering .The last time I'd been there was a year ago and had completed my elementary certification in the sport. And how ? by climbing this cute little rock called the 'nursery'.
As many of you'll know Turahalli is a popular climbing spot and generations of climbers/nature lovers frequent the area trying their best to preserve it in the face of encroachment. Can't say I'm optimistic about their success. The new layout constructions around it were under way in full swing. Its only a matter of time.
But before that happens , I plan to continue getting to know them boulders.
A pic of me after one successful climb.

Sleep - The nice part about sleeping on the ground besides the coolness in this hot weather is that its so bloody hard you will never sleep for too long.My weekend afternoon siestas are now cut short to half an hour.
Food - The food I consume ( cooked by me / snacks bought from outside) must be really nutritious , even my dog refuses to touch it.
Dog - She's 10 years old and is still horny ! Confuses my leg with a male dog and my leg now looks like it had an amazing night of sex with scratch marks and everything.
Gymn - Is usually filled with half naked men .Well they wear banyans - what is the english equivalent of this ? Vests ? underwear? - but half of them keep lifting them to stare at their abs , so I'm now forced to meditate on the floor for fear of confirming their suspicions that they look like the 300 guys .
